Background

The TheatreDigsBooker team has been dedicated to improving touring theatre accommodation since its launch in 2010.

Since then, we have processed over 2,000 years' worth of successful bookings, and our support team has dealt with tens of thousands of queries, requests, complaints, feedback, and suggestions from Hosts, Guests, Producers, and Venues. We are committed to continuing to help theatre professionals navigate the traditional and unique digs arrangements in the UK. Over the past 13 years, we have implemented over 2,000 upgrades to the platform in our continued efforts to improve the safety, quality and accessibility of the Digs process for all concerned.

Landscape

Now, in 2023, despite recent negotiations between the unions and Venues and Producers, most theatre professionals are still required to book their own accommodation with a limited budget, which represents approximately half the commercial rate of accommodation in the places they visit. In nearly all cases, this touring allowance is paid far too late to secure significant discounts or deals.

Our approach

At TheatreDigsBooker, we take these concerns seriously. That's why, after significant research with stakeholders across the sector, we have updated our Code of Conduct for Hosts and Guests. Our Code of Conduct provides detailed criteria, enabling both parties to understand what to expect from each other.

We continue to work with our amazing community of Hosts, Guests and the theatre industry to incorporate feedback whenever possible to continuously improve our Code of Conduct so that both Hosts and Guests operate safely and with respect for each other.

Over the coming months, we will be making the criteria easier to see and manage on our website including ways to improve your own ratings and report shortcomings to constantly improve the quality and experience for everyone.
